About Us

History

The Hungarian Cultural Center was established on May 29, 2024, located in the city of Newark, California near the San Francisco Bay.

The Cultural Center was a long-awaited realization for the Hungarian/American community. It had been over 30 years since there was a cultural center where Hungarian families and their friends could gather and enjoy traditional events.

As stewards of some funding from the previous Magyar Haz and through the sale of our church in Redwood City in addition to generous supporters, the Hungarian Reformed Church of San Francisco and Vicinity (HRCSF) was able to purchase a property consisting of a church and a standalone building for the Cultural Center. While the Cultural Center is owned by the HRCSF, the Center was founded as a non-religious establishment for all Hungarians and Hungarian organizations. The Cultural Center’s finances will be managed separately from the church’s finances.

The Cultural Center is a collaboration of various Hungarian organizations, working together to preserve our Hungarian heritage and traditions. Through our synergies, and commitment to grow and strengthen the supporting communities which make up the Hungarian Cultural Center we hope to leave a legacy that will continue to flourish for future generations.
